Wal-yan Respiratory Research Centre secures Telethon funding for three new research projects

Researchers from the Wal-yan Respiratory Research Centre – a powerhouse partnership between The Kids Research Institute Australia, Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation and Perth Children’s Hospital – have received funding from the Channel 7 Telethon Trust for three new research projects.

Internationally renowned researcher named new Executive Director at The Kids

Professor Caroline Homer AO - a globally recognised leader in maternal and child health, with an international career that spans clinical care, academic research, policy influence and senior leadership - has been named The Kids Research Institute Australia’s third Executive Director.

Siu Min Tay

Siu Min is a PhD candidate at The Kids Research Institute Australia and Edith Cowan University. Siu Min is a recipient of 2025/2026 Telethon Trust Fellowship with Child and Adolescent Community Health, for her research in nutrition in young autistic children.

Protecting little lungs for a lifetime

Dr Denby Evans, a Wal-yan Respiratory researcher, has been awarded a $25,000 Illuminate Award for her work to change that. Funding by Helping Little Hands, the award was presented at The Kids Research Institute Australia’s 2026 Illuminate PitchFest.
